-575 students and adults on campus
-start off the week with police fussing during unloading church vans
-finish the week off with students jumping off balconies onto piles of mattresses, frisbees hitting a sprinkler head in the boys dorm resulting in the fourth floor being flooded and the whole dorm being evacuated from 12:30-3:00 a.m., and a downpour as we unload from site on Thursday! Oh my! Kudos to all who had to handle these issues directly! These of course are only the highlights of the week:)
Now onto the exciting stuff!
- This week was such an odd but awesome mix of students! So many students came to camp struggling in their relationship with the Lord. Many doubting and questioning God. BUT so many left having at least worked through some of those doubts and receiving some answers. As I talked to a few in my group who were struggling with somethings, I was just excited for them. Excited because even though the things they were saying were not necessarily good, it was very evident that they did not want to leave it that way. They were desiring to work through their issues with the Lord; they were seeking answers! Just to let you know they both left changed people, and I pray that they go home and continue to seek the Lord with passion!
- Despite students struggles this week, they all did an incredible job at site! It was so neat to see them boldly sharing the gospel at so many of the different sites, and for many of them for the first time! I know for my site in particular, I was amazed to see these students step up and share the gospel with these children! I could go on for days talking about this summer and what brought us to the movement of the Lord on Thursday, but I will just say this...before we got off the bus on Thursday I really challenged my students to think of one child on site that they had connected with that week and to share the gospel with them that day! And boy did they! Every time I looked around someone was being intentional with a child on site, and as we were loading up to head back students were telling me left and right someone they had shared the gospel with and prayed with to receive Christ! I mean we were getting ready to load the bus and a PRECIOUS young man (about 11-12) came up with one of my students and wanted to pray to receive Christ, which broke my heart because I felt like there was so much happening and we had to leave! I, in the quickest and simplest way I could shared the gospel with him and prayed with him. I can't say for sure how many salvations we had because I am not sure the level of understanding they had, so I am very anxious to go back next week and talk to each one of those sweet children! Pray that they come! Pray that they will fully understand the story of God's love and grace and salvation!
- These children are hungry for the gospel, for the love of Christ, for what they see that is so different in the lives of these students that have come each week to love on them! I pray that next week God sends such a unique group next week! I told my students this week to pray that God would send someone in the next group that could connect with the skater boys and the soccer players and those that only speak Spanish in a special way! Not saying that they didn't connect with them or that's the only way to reach them, but they all agreed that it would be really neat to see some skater guy in my group next week that can talk on their level or a soccer player who could actually give them some competition:)
- One more week, which is very bittersweet! Love you and all and thank you for all your prayers this summer! I couldn't do it without your love and encouragement!
